Why I believe Empoleon fails:

On Shoddy Battles, Empoleon has got to be one of the top 3 common leads I see. It is helpless to Roserade. Empoleon does not have enough speed to be an effective lead, if you were to ask me, it is easy to set up against then KO with Leaf Storm.

That's only my 2 cents though..

No offense, but that statement was my far one of the worse I heard in a while. Do damage calculations before you speak. An Empoleon with no EV's in HP or Special Defense will live a Max Special Attack Leaf Storm from Roserade (even though most people prefer max Speed over Special Attack). As for the speed issue. I have a minimum Speed Dragonite lead that does quite fine. Look at all of the Bronzong, Swampert, Metagross and Hippowdon are great slow leads. Now onto the next note, Empoleon is a better late game sweeper with the set I provided above. Agility Sub Petaya Berry, Allows it to out speed most things get in free hits and have a massive Special Attack. Just because you don't like one set doesn't mean the pokemon sucks. Now onto Roserade, bring an Ambipom. Fake Out, Roserade Flinches. Taunt, Sleep Powder is useless. U-Turn, Roserade should be close to being KO'd(too lazy for calculoations).

Mr. Know It All? Haha chill out, I'm only saying that in my opinion, it is not a solid pokemon.. and honestly, if a common tauter or somebody who obviously has Fake Out is on the field, then just bring out the Ninjask and start Baton Passing till you can sweep with a Marowak or something of that sort. Chill out, I'm not saying that it is an awful pokemon, just, with my experiences against it, it has never done anything amazing or outstanding. Ever.

That's a poor counter to Taunt/Fake Out. Ninjask would get fairly low on HP due to Fake Out(KO'd on a SR before he comes back in from switching out) or completely screwed over due to a Taunt. Also note that Taunt stops you from using Baton Pass.
ANYWHO this should be sticking on track with Empoleon. No pokemon is perfect, but Empoleon can get some sweeps off after an Agility or two.

I think you get what I'm trying to say though, it would be simple to just switch out if something like this were to happen, Ninjask was just a random pokemon to named and obviously was not the best one to pick.

You get the point though.

And yes to stick to the Empoleon talk, he just isn't as powerful as he is made out to be, IN MY OPINION.

Ok, bring the Ninjask out, it gets taunted right away and it gets screwed over because it will die if you try to keep it in and wait out the taunt. Plus, taunt kills Baton Pass chains.

Empoleon is really bulky, being able to use Agility along with its decent Special Attack it can easily get a kill or two.

Chill, you know what I meant. You can switch out to a pokemon, if you actually read the previous posts then you would have no point in commenting just there. It is the post literally right above yours.

Lol guys calm down, everyone is entitled to their opinions and their experiences xD

Nips took my favorite set but heres another one i'd might use:

Empoleon-calm-lefties
surf
roar
stealth rock
grass knot
evs: 252 HP/162 DEF/90 SPDEF/4 SPEED

I thought this would be interesting since he can set up SR and then roar through pokemon to get some damage or to kill any sashs. Might be annoying. Plus empoleon can resist a lot....though this set can be taken out pretty easily lol.
