Last Elite 4

So there is 1 last spot on the Elite 4 and I got a suggestion on deciding who gets it,by having a tournament of course. What better way than to have all the gym leaders battle it out and have the best come out on top? I think this is the best way to have a fair decision,not to mention fun and competitive. The tournament should start with the first match ups having no type advantages,with 2 groups,that way it would be an easy tourney tree.4 people on each group,2nd match ups (semi-finals) will leave the final 4,and the finals with the winners of their group battling each other.Of course there may be other ways of deciding who gets the final spot but this is the best way in my opinion,but what do you guys think?

we've just picked the best gym leader once we had an addition to the current 8, and that seems to have worked, by the luck factor the one who deserves the spot might not get it via tournament
i say we wait till we get another gym leader, then promoted the best one here

I like this idea.
Some of the gym leaders are E4 because they don't want to battle.
Then don't be a gym leader/E4 and some gym leaders are inactive.
So i like this let's fight it out

Not really. Your gym team should be ready for anything. I think this is a good idea but my guess is that Rich or Demon will win even though I never faced Demon. i've faced Rich and he's hard.

i kind of agree with sonic. if a rock gym had to face a ice or fighting gym, the rock gym would get pwned. i know that you are supposed to be ready for things like that but having a disadvantage against another gym leader is unfair. i think that the most deserving of the gym leaders should be moved up instead of having an unfair tourny.

also with most rock pokemon having a base speed of less then 50 if i have to face a super fast gym that has steel and fighting moves I'm in for it
this tourny would come down to type the type that is fast strong and has little week spots would win

What we also could do is make a tournament for the Gym Leaders where
they do NOT have to use their Gym teams. Here they can show their battling skills
without advantages and disadvantages.

none of the gym leaders should suck thats why they are gym leaders i like dingens idea and all gym leaders i think would agree to it as well (idk though) lol

i agree with dingen and drake! cause what if i verse an ice gym? im screwed...and are you saying i should get a rock/dragon,maple?or would nintendo realise that that wouldn't work?

a few points:
A) battling for the spot throws in the luck factor, Johnny_Gym_Leader could be the worst gym leader and flinch/hax my way through a few battles, then be Johnny_E4, does he earn the spot by luck?

B) the E4 should be a master of his/her(i think her only applys for Bea, lol) type, so Dingen's idea isn't keeping them that, Dingen, Maple, and Stawberry were all known for having GREAT gyms, why not pick out the top gym leader

C) if you battle types, a gym leader should be prepared for anything BUT nearly impossible to counter an entire type advantage team(hence why Caitie said this, " DON'T BE CHEAP and use doubles of each type if you can avoid it."), examples:the 6 fast flying types=sweep fighting team OR 6 electrics(with a few HP Grass, and a posion move for Ludicolo) could easily sweep water OR 6 ice(with a T-Bolt or 2) could easily sweep flying types(sorry Dingen, i'd bet on Maple, lol), ect.

D) i think we should wait until we get a ninth member into the gym group then promote 1(if we have an empty gym spot and full E4 it's "a useless group"-Drew, and it will fail[again])

A) If someone wins a battle with the luck factor,no big deal.Its not as if he/she is gonna get lucky the whole tournament,and besides,everyone gets lucky here and there its what makes battles more interesting and exciting Smile

B) I agree with you about disagreeing with Dingens Idea,but I don't agree with your suggestion.The whole idea of this tournament is to find out who the top gym leader is.If someone gets promoted at this point,its probably because they are kissing the staff's butt,as Ex soldier said,and we want this to be a fair promotion.

C) I agree that a gym leader should be prepared for anything,even an entire type advantage team.The true best gym leader should be able to do it if there really good.In your case(Dingen=flying<Maple=ice)there is no pure flying type,and there are a few counters for ice for example skarmory and aerodactyl.Its not like someone is gonna bring a team of all pure 1 type pokes,there's always that 2nd type to help.My point being that you should have a wide range in choice of pokes(of your type) in your disposal for better preparation and coverage.

So what has the staff decided?Will my suggestion be granted or will it just get old,locked and archived?
