| I think it would be a good idea if we made like an academy for the site so the more skilled battlers could teach the other battlers. I am offering to run this if people like the idea. | |

| Actually Sonic...When people "learn on their own", they actually ARE learning from other people. Maybe not directly, as going to an academy, but they are picking up skills from other people. Plus, many of the best players, battlers, professors, moderators, etc... have had SOMEONE teach them something. Plus sonic, I'm sure someone has taught you something. Plus, the best scientists in the world, for example, went to school. No one can be that smart by teaching themselves. So I think this is a good idea..especially for anyone who is new and has just bought then game :] | |

| They give advice but some don't do anything and there are mocuh more skilled battlers who deserve to be Profs than some we have now. | |

| i think it is a good idea i was taught by ex-soldier and many others and i am how i am now i may not be the best battler but they taught me wat they could and i learned the rest on my own just like wat a academy would do but still idk about making it a group because we have had many that have been unsucessful | |

| teaching/learning from others is a good idea, yet i see no need for an acadamy type thing i learned from people through battles, anything that can be done in the talking setting, can be read so read a guide then battle, see how people play, and learn what works for you that's my advise, and end of my post

| So you just battle and talk? No thinking and moving around teams and building teams? Wow that dull. A tutor is a person who is designed to help a person in the aspects of competitive battling like prediction, team building, evs, ect. A good example of a tutor would be Thomas. He rates teams efficiently and helps people. Also a good tutor would know nearly all the tiers and how to play pretty good in all of them and know what is coming up and how to build teams in those tiers.
That is all I have to say for now.

| i would consiter S-Face a mentor of mine, he didn't tell me a team, he didn't tell me HOW to train my pokemon, i made them purely on my own, he battled me to test them, he saw how i battled, how my pokemon worked, and talked about minor changes to increase their power, S-Face was a mentor to me, but not a school type, he was a friend type, and that's the best type of mentor to have so f*** smogon, head to the CB, and BATTLE!

| But a tutor could help you with team members. For example a noob joins a round of the Academy and I just tell him make a team. It turns out he has 5 fire types. Then it's not really minor changes like you said S-Face told you about your team. | |

| RMT section just rates teams. This idea was never meant to be made into groups. | |

| How else would this turn out working? If it wasn't made into a group, then anyone could say they are a part of the "academy." I don't see it as something that's necessary, people can help each other with pokes the way it is. | |

| i have to go with drew on this and anyway since the site has been created we have gotten many noobs (including me) and they have all been taught by other ppl in differnt ways and it will continue to happen as long as there are ppl on this site so theres no need for a academy | |

| it would make people feel better if they had an official someone to look to, i had very little skill when I first came here, just a lot of arrogance, I'm still arrogant but I'm good a battling too!
the only difference is that i tried to battle people and learned what i could through experience in battling asking the remaining questions in a way that tried not to let on how clueless i really am.
it did help having people tell me what was going on when i was battling though rather than just the usual: "You're going down", "oh, Fuck", "MOO", "You Hacked!", and so on. | |

| I don't see a need because this happens all the time in the chatbox. People ask questions and people help others. You don't necessarily need this. If someone needs help they can ask for it =] or look for it... | |
