| I am making a forum bet from an idea from Maple(originally the NFL version). Basically if you follow Hockey, pick your favorite team, list it here. The team that has the best record at the end of the REGULAR season will get the Forum decorated for their team. To get in on the bet, post your team's name here.
Teams in the Bet: 1) Monty: Canucks - 54-19-9: 117 Points(82 Games Played) 2) Monkey: Flyers - 47-23-12: 106 Points(82 Games Played) 2) Maple: Penguins - 49-25-8: 106 Points(82 Games Played) 4) JLA: Sharks - 48-25-9: 105 Points(82 Games Played) 5) Ryan: Bruins - 46-25-11: 103 Points(82 Games Played) 6) Len: Ducks - 47-30-5: 99 Points(82 Games Played) 7) Monk: Blackhawks - 44-29-9: 97 Points(82 Games Played) 8) Conner: Flames - 41-29-12: 94 Points(82 Games Played) 9) Nips: Rangers - 44-33-5: 93 Points(82 Games Played)

| Canucks all the way! (they're my favourite team, but if I was chosing based on who I think would win I would say either Hawks or Capitals have a better chance) Hockey's my favourite spectating sport. I'll be in a pool anyway, so I'll know whats going on. I can post the stats of each team at the end of each week to give people an update of what things are looking like. All the teams selected have a shot from the looks of things. Thank god nobody has picked Edmonton or Toronto. They suck, and I dislike them. | |

| I said that I'd keep things updated, maybe thats a reason that all the teams haven't been added. I'll list all the teams and who wants them to win. I'll edit this post aproximately each week. Monkey: Flyers - 5-4-1: 11 Points Maple: Penguins - 5-5-1: 11 Points Monk: Blackhawks - 6-5-1: 13 Points Ryan: Bruins - 5-2-0: 10 Points Monty: Canucks - 4-3-2: 10 Points Nips: Rangers - 4-4-1: 9 Points Connor: Flames - 6-4-0: 12 Points
Keep in mind there is usually a different number of GP. Anyone else can feel free to join until the start of November, at which poin it will be easier to predict stuff. Feel free to change teams up until then as well if you're already involved. Good luck everyone!

^I'll let Monty add Len and JLA's picks if it's cool coming in late. It doesn't look like either of them have a 52 point lead on the league so you picked them purely to win...so if you ask me I'd say add them. Lol. Just wait till the 27th and Monty will allow/deny. Also...I'll update the first post every Saturday, incase Monty misses, is away, and all that jizz. Monkey

| The NHL playoffs are on! Almost undoubtedly one of the most trying and intense sporting occurances in team sports. Best of 7 in every round, meaning that 16 wins will get a team the coveted Stanley Cup. Teams are tiered so that the higest ranked teams in each conference play the lowest still remaining. The winners of each conference play in the finals. There are no draws, and games will literally go on for hours of sudden death overtime when necessary to decide a game.
Many teams from the bet are still in the running. So I decided to give everyone a chance at winning (provided you are in the playoffs). To clarify, now the winner of the Stanley cup (or the closest thing we have to it) will win the bet (not the winners of the regular season, like it may have been before). Otherwise the Canucks would have already won.
You want: Quarters -----> Semis -----> Conference Finals -----> Finals
Each conference has 8 teams, they all play against each other and send 1 team to the finals. The only chance to play someone from another conference in the playoffs is in the finals.
Teams in contention are as follows:
WESTERN CONFERENCE: Monty - Canucks: Round 2 - Record 1-1 JLA - Sharks: Round 2 - 2-0 Len - Ducks: Round X - 2-4 OUT OF THE PLAYOFFS Monk - Blackhawks: Round 1 - 3-4 OUT OF THE PLAYOFFS
EASTERN CONFERENCE: Monkey - Flyers: Round 2 - Record 0-2 Maple - Penguins: Round 1 - Record 4-2 OUT OF THE PLAYOFFS Ryan - Bruins: Round 2 - Record 2-0 Nips - Rangers Round 1 - Record 1-4 OUT OF THE PLAYOFFS
Current Matchups:
WEST: Canucks v/s Predators (1-1) Sharks v/s Red Wings (2-0)
EAST: Capitals v/s Lightning (0-2) Flyers v/s Bruins (0-2)
Good luck to everyone!

| Updated as of now. 2 games on Tuesday: Canucks could finish off the Hawks, and Sharks and Kings break their current draw.
I'll update every other day for those who actually give a crap.

| Updated as of tonights results. Again, will re-update in a couple of days. I figured I also might as well place my predictions for how things are going to play out (one round at a time of course). Here you go: Vancouver v/s Nashville I want to reserve judgement on this one, not good karma for me to say what I think will happen yet. I'm biased here anyway Obviously I WANT the Canucks to win this. Nashville has been (and still proves to be) a very strong defensive team this year. Their goaltending has also been phenominal this year. Biggest issue could be their offence which can be lacking soem of the time. The Canucks had a great year, have best goals for and best goals against in the regular season. Goaltending has been solid against everyone but the Blackhawks this year (who are noe out of the way). Nashville and Vancouver split the 4 regular season games that they had, and now split their first two playoff games. You judge from there San Jose v/s Detroit I had been saying since the beginning of the playoffs that Detroit was an old team and would soon begin to tire. It seems that the Sharks have a good hold on them, supported by a very strong team. Detroit will not be beaten too easily though, they have too much skill and experience to be swept in the series. I say the Sharks will win it in 5 or 6 games, eventually beating out the talented Wings. Joe Thornton has been playing very strongly, as have most of the Sharks' big guns. Time will tell if their team is solid enough all around to keep shutting out Detroit, who will be going down fighting. Washington v/s Tampa Bay I would have initially thought that the Capitals would have run away with this early, but after watching some of the games these two had I need to rethink that. The Lightning are riding one hot goal tender right now, and in the play-offs that can be what knocks out even the best of teams. Roloson is getting the support from St.Louis, Stamkos, Gagner (gagner is also the French verb for "to win" if you didn't know), and the rest of a strong forward line are keeping up with the Ovetchkin's Offensive numbers. With a 2-0 series lead its going to be very difficult for Washington to claw its way into this, their only hope is for Roloson to cool down. Thats why I give this series to the Lightning in 6 games. Philidelphia v/s Boston Interesting series, and I'm giving this one to Boston in 5. Why? Philidelphia is and has been a phenominal offensive team all year, but currently without Carter and (more importantly) Pronger they are going to have a hard time beating the Bruins. The big issue with the Flyers is Goaltending. They don't have a go-to-guy in net, and its hurting them. Briere has been saving them with the nice streak he's had. Boston is big, tough, and hard to play against. Fortunetly for the Flyers, Thomas is the king of re-bounds (get a guy in front of the damn net!) but he's still a solid keeper. There will be a few more close games, but Boston will come out on top in this one (my thoughts even before this started, sorry monkey). | |

| Who needs a go-to-guy in the net when you can win a series using 3 different goalies and came back from an 0-3 start against the Bruins last year. Not to mention Game 7 we fell down 0-3 and came back to win it. The Bruins can't close out these Flyers.

| The question will be, can those 3 goalies win the games? I guess we'll see . . .
Tampa now up 3-0 in their series versus the Capitals, I'm starting to wonder if it will even go to 6 . . .
